Flowering from winter through to Christmas .<\/li><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\"><strong>Flowers:<\/strong><\/span> Long red flowers approx 5cm and green calyces.<\/li><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\"><strong>Lvs:<\/strong><\/span> are wide cordate shape, grass green colour and slightly hairy, veins are indented with a slight fragrance.<\/li><li>It is best grown at the back of a bed by a fence or in the middle of a large garden bed. Although it will tolerate a sunny position it likes cool roots with mulch. Quite hardy in a shady situation once established. It was found in Meg Bentley\u2019s garden.<\/p><ul><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\"><strong>Flowers:<\/strong><\/span> are red as in the species, same shape and size but they have a luminescence about them, the calyx is a brown colour. Flowering late Spring ( around November)<\/li><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\"><strong>Lvs:<\/strong><\/span> are a broad cordate shape, slightly hairy and a grass green colour, veins also indented.<\/li><li>Best grown at the back of the garden bed, by a fence or in the middle of a large garden bed in a sunny sheltered position or a shady area. Purple \/ red hairs on the petioles.<\/li><li>The growth habit is quite different from the others as it has a spreading habit with the ability of winding itself through other shrubs. The same size and shape as the species, but with a green calyx.<\/li><li>Lvs are broad cordate, slightly hairy with indented veins, hairy stems.<\/li><li>Originating in Tasmania. S. fulgens<\/em>\u00a0(syn\u00a0<em>cardinalis<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 recognised as a form of) is characterised by the presence of 2 papillae at the base of the corolla tube, the inside of the corolla tube otherwise being clear and smooth apart from a pair of tiny staminodes half way along, and bracts that are twice the size of those of S.<em>gesneriiflora. S. gesneriiflora <\/em>presents no papillae, there are striations inside the corolla tube and its calyces are larger than those of <em>S. fulgens<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1dc0203 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"1dc0203\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-226022b elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"226022b\"
