data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Original plant acquired from seed by Graham and Velda Ellis from Silverhill in Sth Africa 1993<\/p><ul><li>A shrub to 1m, upright the image in Betsy Clebsch book \u201cSages for Every Garden\u201d resembles this plant form.<\/li><li>Meg and Lyndi acquired a plant from Graham Ellis years ago, named S.rugosa \u2013 a form with relatively narrow leaves, upright with white flowers. Pat Anderson and others have a similar plants from a similar era from Sue Templeton, named S.disermas. Lyndi has a more upright white form with much wider, more indented leaves, acquired with the name \u2018disermas\u2019. Reference to the sources reveal that the plant disermas can be very variable in leaf, flower colour and habit. Furthermore, S. disermas is closely related to S.radula \u2013 upright and white flowered. ( Some hybrid-isation ?)<\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Forms of Salvia disermas currently in circulation<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>There have been various plants in circulation locally for some years under the name of\u00a0<em>S. disermas <\/em>\u00a0and or <em>S.rugosa.<\/em> The information and photographs available on the internet are inadequate. Upper lip hooded on emergence from the calyx, hood \u2013 8mm, tubular within the calyx, lower lip with cupped median lobe, both stigma and stamens exerted.<\/p><p>A good garden plant for hot dry sunny positions, growing up to 60cmH, the bees love this plant. Plant behind lower plants, excellent in a perennial border. Good drainage, hates wet feet. Needs trimming to keep it bushy.<br \/>Easy to propagate, this form is best from cuttings as seed may not come true.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-38620d5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"38620d5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Disermas \u2018Slimline\u2019 syn rugosa<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-82c1574 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"82c1574\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThis is a more bushy plant, reaching a max of 60cm. Oil glands can be seen on both surfaces.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Stem:<\/strong><\/span><\/span> very hairy.<br \/><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Calyx:<\/strong><\/span><\/span> fat with seed, ribbed, hairy and green, 12mm long.<br \/><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Corolla:<\/strong><\/span><\/span> white, with tinge of pink on hood. Slightly larger than it\u2019s parent, both the stigma and stamens are exerted slightly.<\/p><p>This is another very good plant for those hot dry sunny positions. It begins as a clumping form. If given too much shade the stems begin to cascade over, but will remain compact in full sun.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Leaves:<\/strong><\/span><\/span> thin texture, not rugose, triangular, 120 -140 mm long, by 80 \u2013 100 mm wide at the base. Margins lobulate. Upper surface has small groups of short hairs and glands, lower surface also has fewer hairs than in Form 1. Hairs not uniform in length. Petiole long \u2013 100\u00a0 mm \u2013 sessile at base of inflorescence.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\"><strong>Inflorescence:<\/strong><\/span> 150 \u2013 160 mm, verticils of 6 flowers spaced at 40 -50 mm intervals, getting closer towards the top.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Corolla:<\/strong><\/span><\/span> soft pink, larger than other forms. 20 -25 mm in total, hood 10 -11 mm, lower lip 5 \u2013 6 mm, whitish, median lobe markedly cupped, prominent lateral lobes \u201drolled\u201d.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Bracts:<\/strong><\/span><\/span> large, persistent, wide, acuminate<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Calyx:<\/strong><\/span><\/span> green, very hairy, sticky with oil glands, ribbed. 3 points at tip of upper lip, 2 on lower lip.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Summary: in spite of tendency to flop, a good garden plant to fill a space. Minute glands.<br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Petiole:<\/span><\/strong><\/span> 60mm, sessile at base of inflorescence.<br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>Stem<\/u>:<\/strong><\/span> hairy, coloured up to branching inflorescence.<br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>Inflorescence:<\/u><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0stem green and hairy, strong, upright, 480mm, verticils spaced evenly at 40mm.<br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>Corolla:<\/u><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0hood deep pink, lower lip paler pink with purple bee-line markings. 18 -20mm long, with hood 8mm are hairy.\u00a0 Lower lip 5-6mm, cupped median lobe. Stigma pink, barely exserted, Stamens white, not exserted.<br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>Bract:<\/u><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0at base of inflorescence: 50mm long, 40mm wide and very acuminate.<br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>Calyx:<\/u>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>green, hairy, glandular, ribbed, 3 points on upper lip, 2 on lower lip, also less pointed<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>A\u00a0 good, garden-worthy plant, with strong upright stems.<br \/>A tough plant for sunny areas, in the middle of a garden bed or behind a small
